A sensitization program on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

A sensitization program on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) was organized on March 12, 2026, in the MVEIC Hall of the Science Block of Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, Patna University. The program was jointly organized by the ECO Task Force and the Department of Zoology, Patna Women’s College in collaboration with Bihar Veterinary College, Patna.
The session featured Dr. Purushottam Kaushik, Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology, Dr. Savita Kumari, Associate Professor, and Dr. Bhoomika, Assistant Professor, of Bihar Veterinary College, who spoke about the growing global threat of antimicrobial resistance and the need for responsible use of antibiotics. They also emphasized the “One Health” approach, highlighting the link between human, animal, and environmental health.
The entire event is well coordinated by Dr. Sumeet Ranjan, Secretary, ECO task Force and Assistant Professor , Department of Zoology. The program was moderated by Ms. Ruqayya Fatima. Dr. Neetu, and Sister Monica, Assistant Professors from the Department of Zoology were present on the occasion. 130 Students of the Department of Zoology from both undergraduate and postgraduate semesters participated enthusiastically.
The session helped students understand the public health implications of antimicrobial resistance and encouraged them to promote responsible antibiotic use and awareness in society.
