Departmental Visit to FDDI, Bihta , 23rd Feb, 2026
The Department of Fashion Designing, Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, Patna organised an educational visit to the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), Bihta, on 23rd Feb, 2026. It is a premier autonomous institution under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, focusing on training and education in footwear, leather, and Fashion Design. The visit was aimed to provide an industrial exposure and to prepare a project report on the footwear design and development process.
The team comprises 49 students and 6 faculty members. They explored various sections of the institute, including design studio, labs, cutting, stitching and pattern making sections, finishing and design development areas were also explored. During the visit, students observed a complete journey of footwear – from concept development to final product finishing.
Students visited all important sections of institute and collected academic information regarding footwear design process under the guidance of faculties, Mrs. Rupashree, Shalu Singh,HOD Fashion Design Department,Sanjeev MISHRA Centre Incharge &HOD of Footwear Design Department, Goldy Anand. Visit was started with a warm welcoming of our team by Mr Neeraj Kumar, ExecutiveDirector FDDI Patna campus.
Experts and faculty members of FDDI interacted with the students, explaining foot anatomy, material selection, the importance of comfort considered in construction methods and current trends in the footwear industry. They also highlighted the growing opportunities in footwear design, encouraging students to consider specialised careers and higher studies in this field.
The visit proved highly beneficial for the students. The Department expressed its gratitude to FDDI authorities for their support and hospitality and for facilitating this valuable industrial exposure for students and teachers.
