Anti-Ragging Day

Anti-Ragging Day

The Department of Biotechnology, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) observed Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August 2015, marking the beginning of Anti-Ragging Week (12-18th August), in line with the UGC guidelines and the Centre for Youth (C4Y), the UGC National Anti-Ragging Monitoring Agency.
On Day 1(12th August), screening of documentaries was done. The documentaries were based on the menace of ragging and how it can be so impactful such as to end someone’s life. The documentaries were shown to the students of Sem I and III, to make students aware about ragging, its consequences, rules enforced against ragging and many more.
This helped in creating a sense of empathy and understanding among the students. The interactive session allowed students to express their views against ragging. It emphasized on the negative impact of ragging.

On Day 2 (13th August), an engaging Slogan Writing Competition under the Anti-Ragging Drive was organized by the Department of Data Science and Analytics. Students of Semester I and Semester III participated in the Slogan Writing Competition enthusiastically. Total 11 groups participated and all of them showcased different views about Anti Ragging. Students shared about serious negative impact viz, both physical and mental effects of ragging on students.
The slogan created by the student served as a visual reminder of the importance of maintaining a respectful and inclusive campus culture. Students actively participated and shared their views on insights about illegal ragging practices.
