In accordance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Department of Data Science and Analytics at Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) observed Anti-Ragging Week from 12th to 18th August 2025. The initiative aimed to foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful academic environment by raising awareness about the detrimental effects of ragging and reinforcing institutional and legal measures against it.
Day 1: Awareness through Documentary Screening (12th August)
The observance commenced with Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August. On this day, students were shown a series of curated documentaries highlighting the psychological, emotional, and legal consequences of ragging. The screenings served to sensitize students to the gravity of the issue and informed them about the preventive frameworks and disciplinary actions enforced under UGC regulations.
Day 2: Slogan Writing Competition (13th August)
To encourage creative expression and student engagement, the department organized a Slogan Writing Competition on 13th August. Students from Semester I and Semester III participated with great enthusiasm, articulating powerful messages against ragging. The winners of the competition were as follows:
🥇 First Position: Ananya Kumari (Semester III)
🥈 Second Position: Pranishtha Kumari (Semester III)
🥉 Third Position: Sanskriti Swar (Semester I)
The competition not only showcased the students’ awareness but also reinforced their commitment to maintaining a ragging-free campus.
Day 3: Affidavit Submission (14th August)
On 14th August, students were guided to formally submit anti-ragging affidavits as mandated by the UGC. This step was instrumental in reinforcing individual accountability and institutional compliance with anti-ragging protocols.
The Department remains committed to upholding the values of dignity, safety, and mutual respect within the academic community. Through these initiatives, it continues to promote a culture of zero tolerance towards ragging and strives to empower students as responsible stakeholders in campus well-being.
