On the occasion of National Youth Day,12.01.26 the Department of Fashion Designing, Patna Women’s College organised a debate competition on the topic- “Does social media empower or exploit young designers?” The event aimed to encourage critical thinking among youth about growing influence of digital platforms on creative careers.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation of students from semester 4. 24 Participants presented diverse perspectives, highlighting how social media provides global exposure networking opportunities , while also questioning issues such as content exploitation, algorithm pressure, unpaid labour, and mental health challenges faced by young designers.
The event concluded with insightful rebuttals reflecting the maturity and awareness of today’s youth. The competition conducted under the guidance of head of the department Dr.Shemushi Madhu, Coodinnator of the Dept Ms. Geetanjali Choudhary. Panel
