On November 15, 2025, The Department of Biotechnology, in collaboration with the Health Centre, the Department of Home Science, and the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, successfully organized a Health Talk and Awareness Programme to celebrateWorld Diabetes Day, The event was held under the able guidance of Respected Principal Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C. and Respected Vice Principal Dr. sister M. Tanisha A.C,. the event was meticulously planned by Dr. Arti Kumari, Head, Department of Biotechnology and Dr. Shazia hussain, Assistant professor Home Science & Coordinator Department of Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics.
The event focused on the theme “Diabetes Care: Medical and Education Perspective” and featured renowned resource persons Dr. Amit Kumar Sinha (MBBS, MD, FEDM, CDE, AACE (USA) and Mr. Ritesh Kumar (Certified Diabetes Educator).
Dr. Amit Kumar Sinha delivered an insightful talk on the rising prevalence of diabetes, its types, major risk factors, myths and facts, and the importance of prevention, control, and early diagnosis. He also highlighted ongoing research trends and encouraged participants to adopt healthy lifestyle practices. He concluded with the message that diabetes is not the end, but the beginning of a healthier lifestyle when managed effectively.
Mr. Ritesh Kumar discussed the different types of diabetes, possible complications, and the need for awareness and preventive measures. He further spoke about the challenges and emerging opportunities for diabetes educators in India, career prospects in diabetes care, and the growing role of technology in diabetes management.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, helping them gain valuable knowledge about diabetes prevention, management, and future prospects in the field of healthcare. At the end of the event, Dr. Vivek Raj, Assistant Professor Department of Biotechnology delivered the vote of thanks. All the Faculty members of participating Departments were present for the event enthusiastically participated in awareness programme.
