epartment of English in collaboration with Lexicon Language Club at Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), hosted a distinguished expert session on 12th February, 2026 to commemorate International Mother Language Day. The event, titled “Of Sanskrit Reflective Traditions Today,” featured Prof. D. Venkat Rao, Dean and Professor, School of Languages and Literature at Nalanda University, who provided a profound exploration of the intersections between language, culture, and identity.
The program was coordinated by Dr Devina Krishna, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Coordinator, Lexicon Language Club who highlighted Professor Rao’s extensive contributions to literary and cultural studies, including his work as an editor for the prestigious Routledge series.
During his keynote address, Professor Rao delved into the “Principle of Symmetry” and the various “Technics of Culture” through which we access our heritage—ranging from speech and scribbles to audio-visual mediums.
Following a dynamic Q&A session on linguistic tools and culture as communication, the event took a creative turn. Students participated in a reflective activity, writing their thoughts in their respective mother tongues, celebrating linguistic diversity
The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Soumya Vartika.
