PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT CLASS
DATE: 19th January, 2026
TIME: 11:05 AM–12:00 PM
VENUE: Room No. 38 & 39, Patna Women’s College
The Department of Economics conducted personality development sessions for Semester II and PG Semester II by Dr. Preeti Kumari, for Semester VI by Ms. Kamaljeet Kaur, and for Semester IV by Dr. Swastika Satyam. The session on 19th January 2026 focused on plastic pollution in rivers and oceans and its harmful impact on ecosystems and human health. An informative video revealed that people consume microplastics equivalent to a credit card weekly and that 144 of the world’s most polluted rivers are in India. Developing countries like Thailand use Ocean Cleanup Interceptors to stop plastic from entering oceans; India should adopt such technologies with strong government support to safeguard rivers and future generations. This was followed by group discussions with active student participation, where teachers highlighted reduced water availability, shrinking river areas, and adverse effects on agriculture and livelihoods due to increasing plastic pollution.
