The Department of Biotechnology, Patna Women’s College, organized a Startup Ideas Presentation on August 8, 2025, showcasing the creativity and innovation of its students. The event was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Alok Ranjan, with valuable guidance from Dr. Arti Kumari, Head, Department of Biotechnology. Faculty members Dr. Vivek Raj and Dr. Premlata Kumari, Assistant Professors in the department, were also present and encouraged the participants throughout the session.
We were honored by the presence of Dr. Shobha Srivastava (Dean, Faculty of Science & Head, Department of Zoology) and Dr. Urvasi Sinha (Assistant Professor, Department of Botany), who graciously served as judges. Their insightful feedback and motivating words added great value to the event and inspired the participants to refine their innovative ideas.
During the presentations, student teams introduced a wide range of biotech-driven solutions such as:
• Next-Gen Makhana Processing
• Stress Detection Finger Ring
• Herbo Patch
• RNA-based Pesticides
• AI-powered Virtual Lab Assistant
The highlights of the event also included concepts in food processing, biodegradable packaging, menstrual hygiene innovation, gut and skin health supplements, and digital biotech applications.
Faculty feedback emphasized the importance of market research, real-world applicability, and patent awareness, ensuring that the students not only innovate but also think ahead toward commercialization and entrepreneurship.
The program served as an inspiring platform, encouraging students to see Biotechnology as a driver of sustainable solutions, impactful research, and future entrepreneurial ventures.
