Topic: “Understanding Gender Mainstreaming: Challenges and Prospects”
As part of academic enrichment and collaborative initiatives, the Department of Economics, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) in collaboration with Department of Economics and IQAC, Salesian College (Autonomous) Sonada, Siliguri, organized an online special lecture on the topic “Understanding Gender Mainstreaming: Challenges and Prospects” on the 27th of October 2025. Head, Department of Economics, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous ) Dr. Zareen Fatima was the resource person for the session.
The session commenced with a prayer led by Fr. C. M. Paul, Vice Principal of Salesian College. The special lecture was attended by the students and faculty members of the department of Economics and Political science.
The highlight of the lecture was the insightful perspective on gender mainstreaming as a key strategy for achieving equality and sustainability and the concept of equality and equity. The importance of integrating gender perspective into all stages of policy formulation and institutional practices was also discussed.
This was followed by an interactive Q&A session. The session concluded with the closing remarks by Mr. Bickey Sharma, Head , Department of Economics, Salesian College (Autonomous).
The lecture reinforced the concept of gender mainstreaming as a crucial approach to inclusive growth.
