On the occasion of World AIDS Day (1 December 2025), the Bihar State AIDS Control Society (BSACS) organized a Red Ribbon Rally to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and promote preventive health behaviour among the youth. NSS volunteers of Patna Women’s College actively participated in the event with great enthusiasm and discipline. The volunteers reached the venue at 5:45 a.m., after which T-shirts and caps were distributed by 6:00 a.m. to all participants. The rally formally commenced at 6:45 a.m., symbolizing solidarity with people living with HIV and reinforcing the message of ending stigma and discrimination.
The rally proceeded through major routes of the city and culminated at Veer Kunwar Singh Park, where a special awareness programme was organized. The gathering was addressed by IAS Pratibha Rani, who highlighted the importance of youth involvement in combating HIV/AIDS through responsible behaviour and knowledge dissemination. The event was held under the guidance of Lokesh Kumar, Secretary of Health Department, Mukhya Sachiv Prtey Amrit, and Margret Gwada, CFO, UNICEF, whose presence encouraged the volunteers and emphasized the collaborative effort required to achieve the global goals of HIV prevention.
A distinguished guard of honour by the NCC band marked the formal opening of the programme at the park. This was followed by a powerful nukkad natak performed by student volunteers, depicting myths and facts about HIV/AIDS. Energetic dance performances were also presented to engage the audience and promote awareness messages in an impactful manner.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks at 9:00 a.m., acknowledging the efforts of BSACS officials, NSS volunteers, students, and partner organizations. Overall, the event successfully reinforced the significance of awareness, empathy, and collective responsibility in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
