In observance of World Diabetes Day, Department of Biotechnology, in collaboration with the Health Centre, Department of Home Science, and Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), organized a Health Talk and Awareness Programme on 15th November 2025 in Carmel Hall, from 10 AM.
The programme’s theme was “Collaborative Diabetes Care: Medical and Education Perspectives,” featuring Dr. Amit Kumar Sinha (MBBS, MD, FEDM, CDE, AACE USA) and Mr. Ritesh Kumar, Certified Diabetes Educator, as resource persons. The event was held under the guidance of Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., Principal, and Dr. Sister M. Tanisha A.C., Vice Principal and Head, Department of Home Science. It was planned by Dr. Arti Kumari, Head, Department of Biotechnology, and Dr. Shazia Husain, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science & Coordinator, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics.
The programme was commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Shubham Sinha, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics and moderator of the programme was Adeeba Kulsum (Semester I, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics). The programme highlights the diabetes prevalence, types, risk factors, diagnosis, myths, prevention, research opportunities and emerging career opportunities in diabetes care.
The event saw active participation from 60 students and faculty from organizing departments, ending with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vivek Raj, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology. The programme successfully raised awareness on diabetes management and healthcare careers.
