World Ozone Day

On September 16, 2025, the Department of Biotechnology, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, successfully organized an academic program to commemorate World Ozone Day. The event was held under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Arti Kumari, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, and was supervised by Dr. Vivek Raj, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, whose constant support ensured the smooth execution of the program. The event was anchored by Ms. Mosarrat Perveen and Ms. Suchita with great confidence and clarity. A total of 67 students from Semester-I and Semester-II attended and participated with enthusiasm.
The primary objective of the event was to create awareness among students about the critical role of the ozone layer and to emphasize global scientific efforts dedicated to environmental protection. The highlight of the program was a “PowerPoint Presentation Competition” on the theme “Biotechnological Approaches in Reducing Ozone Depletion”. A total of seven student groups participated and showcased scientifically innovative ideas and research-oriented insights.
• 1st Prize: Group E – Ms. Aafreen Andrea Azam, Ms. Jaweria Fatima, and Ms. Maria Reyaz
• 2nd Prize: Group C – Ms. Mosarrat Perveen, Ms. Astha Kumari, Ms. Faria Habib, Ms. Sneha Kumari, Ms.Priya Kumar
• 3rd Prize: Group B – Ms. Suchita Kumari, Ms.Surbhi, Ms.Deepali Singh, Ms.Sakshi Priyadarshi and Group G – Ms. Simran Amit Okhandi, Ms. Dhriti Kumari, Ms. Amreen Ahmad, Ms. Zoya Mahtab
The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges: Mr. R.N. Majumdar, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, and Dr. Hena Naz, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany. Their scholarly observations, constructive feedback, and words of encouragement provided valuable insights and served as great motivation for the participants, enriching the academic spirit of the event. The Department expressed its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Vivek Raj (Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology) for their valuable academic support and constructive suggestions, which further enhanced the quality and impact of the program. Special appreciation was extended to all faculty members of the Department of Biotechnology for their constant encouragement and guidance. The Department also acknowledged the contributions of Mr. Ashish Kumar, Ms. Rohini, Ms. Priya Kumari, Ms. Manshi Kumari, Ms. Supriya Kumari, and other volunteer students for their technical support and assistance, which ensured the smooth conduct of the event. The program concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Aafreen Andrea Azam, who warmly acknowledged the collaborative efforts that made the event not only a remarkable academic success but also a meaningful tribute to the spirit of World Ozone Day.
