An insightful educational trip

An insightful educational trip

Botany Department of Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) organized an insightful educational trip to the Sudha Dairy Plant in Phulwari sharif, Patna on September 13, 2025. The visit was a fantastic opportunity for 50 Botany Semester I students to get a firsthand look at the dairy production process.

Led by Dr. Pinky Prasad, Head of the Department, and Dr. Piyush Kumar Rai, Assistant Professor, along with two non-teaching staff, Mr. Shyam Babu and Ms. Kumkum Kant, the group explored different parts of the plant. Students were guided through the milk reception area, pasteurization unit, homogenization chamber, packaging section, and quality control laboratory.

At every stage, students saw the fascinating journey of raw milk as it was transformed into various dairy products. They were particularly impressed by the strict hygiene and sanitation standards maintained throughout the facility, which underscored the importance of quality control and product safety.

Following the tour, plant officials gave a detailed presentation, providing a clear overview of the entire operation. However, the real highlight was the chance for students to engage directly with the plant’s experts. They asked thoughtful questions and gained valuable insights into the challenges and innovations within the dairy industry. This experiential learning session gave them a much deeper appreciation for the subject matter and the dairy industry’s significant role in the local economy.
