Van Mahotsav Celebration

Van Mahotsav Celebration

The ECO Task Force in collaboration with Department of Zoology at Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, Patna University, organized a meaningful celebration of Van Mahotsav, a festival honoring the importance of trees and forests, on 03.07.2025.
Every year 1st week of July is celebrated as Van Mahotsav throughout the country.
This celebration featured two significant activities:
A Plantation drive under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” and an Awareness program on “Goraiya Bihar” presented by the Zoo Ambassadors of the Department of Zoology.

During the plantation drive, students enthusiastically participated in the initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” where they formed groups of three and brought potted ornamental and medicinal plants to contribute to the green initiative and rejuvenate the department’s green corner. This activity not only promoted environmental sustainability but also instilled a sense of responsibility among the students towards nature.

The awareness program on “Goraiya Bihar” was presented by the Zoo Ambassadors of the Department of Zoology. The session aimed to educate students about the importance of conservation and the role they can play in protecting the Sparrows. The Zoo Ambassadors shared valuable insights and expertise, inspiring students to take action towards a better conserved future.

The event concluded with a sense of accomplishment and a renewed commitment to environmental conservation. The Department of Zoology, Patna Women’s College continues to strive for excellence in promoting sustainability and environmental awareness among its students.
This program was successfully conducted under the supervision of Dr. Shobha Shrivastava, Vice President of ECO Task Force and Dean, Faculty of Science and Dr Sumeet Ranjan, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology.
Ruqayya Fatima, Simran Singh, and Muskan Bharti skillfully moderated the event, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience for all participants. All the ECO Task Force members and students of UG and PG, Dept of Zoology and teachers of Zoology department were present on this occasion.
