The Department of English, in collaboration with the TARK Debating Society, successfully organised a Speech Competition on 27th January 2026 on the evocative theme “Reimagining India for the Youth.” The event unfolded as an intellectually vibrant space where thought met expression, and reflection met responsibility, witnessing the enthusiastic participation from both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students
Through eloquent speeches, participants engaged critically with ideas of nationhood, responsibility, and the role of youth in shaping a more inclusive and reflective India. The event was judged by Prof. Muniba Sami ,retired professor of Deprtment of English, Patna University and Dr. Zareen Fatma, head of the department of Economics. Prof Muniba Sami addressed the students emphasizing the important role of critical thing and self reflection in the lives of the youth.The competition was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Shahla Rehana, Department of English, whose guidance ensured academic depth and intellectual rigour to the event.
In the Undergraduate category, Sufiya Ali secured the first position, followed by Sanchi in second place and Avantika in third. In the Postgraduate category, the first position was jointly awarded to Mandira Sinha and Kanishtha Jain, with Bushra Hoda securing second place and Sneha Roy securing the third position.
The collaboration between the Department of English and the TARK Debating Society thus culminated in an afternoon marked by reflection, conviction, and hope, reaffirming the role of the humanities in nurturing engaged, thoughtful citizens.
