On 27th February 2026, the Department of English at Patna Women’s College, in collaboration with Dakhal Theatre Society and Performing Arts, organised an expert talk on “Art and Awareness” at Carmel Hall. The Resource Person was the much-acclaimed Ms. Anamika Haksar, a prominent theatre and film director. The lecture focused on harnessing the platform of artistic expression to trigger social and political change. It began with an introductory note by the moderator, Ms Stuti Lal. The guest speaker was warmly felicitated by Dr Sahar Rahman, Head, Department of English, with a plant sapling. Thereafter, the exemplary theatre personality, Ms. Anamika Haksar, commenced her lecture. The lecture was an evocative address to the supremacy of art, in particular of theatre, to prompt radical social action. She shared moving anecdotes about her social experiments and documentation in the streets of Old Delhi. She stressed that AI will not render art inane and commented, “The artist will not be destroyed.” She shared information about her enigmatic cinematic debut, “Ghode Ko Jalebi Khilane Le Ja Riya Hoon”. Lively interactions with the speaker kept the students engaged. The programme was attended by students of the Department of English, members of Dakhal Theatre Society and Performing Arts. At the end, a vote of thanks was delivered by Ms Soumya Vartika. The lecture was a celebration of art’s potential to create awareness among individuals about the collective human cause.
