Participants: 41 Students (AIML Semester I)
Patna Women’s College observed Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August 2025, marking the start of Anti-Ragging Week. As part of the initiative, a documentary on anti-ragging was screened for 41 students of AIML Semester-I (2025-2029). The screening was conducted by Ms. Hera Shaheen, Assistant Professor, Department of AIML, in the presence of Ms. Poonam Abraham Lakra, Head, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), to raise awareness about the consequences of ragging and encourage a safe campus environment. Ragging is a punishable offense and a violation of human dignity. As per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and UGC regulations, Patna Women’s College maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging in any form—physical, verbal, emotional, or online. Two Short films were screened. Key takeaways were:-
- The film brings to light the need for a gender-sensitive focus in the formulation of anti-ragging policies
- The damaging psychological effects for victims often result in long-lasting ramifications, including,
but not limited to, anxiety, depression, and, in the worst of cases, a likelihood of suicidal ideation.
It also serves as a case for the need to build mental health and empathy.
The students were highly enlightened and gained insights from this programme that will be invaluable for them as they embark on their careers, helping them to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry.
