The Department of Commerce (Accounting and Finance), Patna Women’s College (Autonomous) successfully organized a Student Development Programme on “Financial Literacy and SEBI Investor Awareness” in collaboration with Indian Institute of Management, Bodh Gaya, under the esteemed initiative of AMF. The programme was organized with the objective of equipping students with essential financial knowledge and fostering responsible investment practices among young learners.
The welcome address was given by Dr. Soofia Fatima, Dean & Head, Department of Commerce. The session was conducted by NISM certified trainers -Mr. Souvik Pandey and Mr. Mahin Mitra, MBA Students from IIM, Bodh Gaya, who shared valuable insights into the fundamentals of personal finance, investment planning, and investor protection. Drawing upon practical examples and real-world financial scenarios, they encouraged students to develop sound financial habits and make informed investment decisions. A significant segment of the programme focused on the pivotal role of the Securities and Exchange Board of India in regulating India’s securities market, protecting the interests of investors, ensuring market transparency, and promoting investor education through various awareness initiatives.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of B.Com (Hons.) Accounting & Finance, B.Com (Hons.) Taxation & Auditing, and B.A. Economics (Hons). Through an engaging and interactive session, the participants gained a comprehensive understanding of financial planning, mutual funds, risk assessment, portfolio diversification, and the significance of aligning investment strategies with individual financial goals. The programme concluded with a lively question-and-answer session, during which students actively interacted with the resource persons, seeking clarity on various aspects of investments and financial planning.
