To commemorate World Breastfeeding Promotion Week (1st–7th August 2026), the Department of Home Science with the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, jointly organized a Reel Making Competition on 6th August 2026 at 12 noon in Room No. 54. The competition was conducted with the objective of spreading awareness about the importance of breastfeeding through creative and impactful digital content.
The programme commenced with a brief introduction to the significance of World Breastfeeding Promotion Week by Dr. Sunita Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of promoting breastfeeding for the health and well-being of mothers and children.
A total of 35 students enthusiastically participated in the competition, showcasing their creativity, technical skills, and understanding of this year’s theme, “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.” The participants presented engaging and informative reels highlighting the significance of breastfeeding for the health and well-being of both mother and child.
The competition was judged by Dr. Priyanka, Assistant Professor, Department of History and Dr. Deepa Sonal, Assistant Professor, Department of AI&ML, who appreciated the originality, relevance, and awareness reflected in the participants’ presentations. They also encouraged the students to continue using innovative media platforms to promote important public health messages. The coordination of the event was undertaken by Dr. Sunita Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science and Mr. Siddhant Parashar, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics.
The results of the competition were announced at the end of the event. First Position was awarded to (Code 7) Tasneem Zahra, Adeeba Kulsum, Asiya Naaz, Shadma Naaz, Second Position was secured by (Code 9) Asfa Jabeen, Fatima Naseem, Sumaiya Khanam and Iqra Perwez) and Third Position was won by (Code 8) Prachi Kumari, Samriddhi Versha, Richa Raj, Mahin Ali.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Siddhant Parashar, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, who expressed his sincere gratitude to the esteemed judges, faculty members, student participants, and everyone who contributed to the successful organization of the event.
