The ECO Task Force and the Department of Zoology organized “Vrikshabandhan – A Rakhi Making Competition” on 22 August 2026 to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan with a meaningful message of environmental conservation. A total of 180 students actively participated in the event, enthusiastically showcasing their creativity and commitment towards nature.
The celebration beautifully blended tradition with environmental consciousness. The colourful and creatively designed rakhis prepared by the students were tied around the trees across the college campus. As the threads gently embraced the trunks of the trees, they seemed to weave a silent promise—a promise to protect the guardians of life that provide us with oxygen, shade and countless other blessings.
The First Prize was awarded to Code No. 35 – Ankita Kumari and Team. There was a tie for the Second Prize, which was jointly awarded to Code No. 21 – Priya Kumari and Team and Code No. 45 – Shreya Raj and Team. Similarly, the Third Prize was jointly awarded to Code No. 19 – Tanya Kumari and Team and Code No. 26 – Akanksha Priyadarshi and Team.
The competition was judged by Ms. Manisha Prasad, Head, Department of Computer Science, and Dr. Tauseef Hassaan, Head, Department of English Communication and Media.
Adding warmth and significance to the occasion, the Principal Dr. Sister M. Tranisha A.C also tied Rakhi with the students and encouraged them to carry the spirit of Vrikshabandhan beyond the celebration. She urged the students to remember that protecting a tree is not merely an environmental responsibility but an act of gratitude towards nature. She encouraged them to become responsible custodians of the environment and to inspire others to protect and nurture the green world around them.
The entire event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Sumeet Ranjan, Vice President, ECO Task Force and Head, Department of Zoology, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and emphasized the importance of connecting cultural traditions with environmental responsibility.
