The Department of Mass Communication, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), organised a guest lecture on 27th August 2026 in the department on the theme “Reimagining Research in Social Sciences for a Human and Digital World.”
The session was graced by Dr. Devina Krishna, Assistant Professor, Department of English, as the keynote speaker. She was introduced by Dr. Aprajita Pathak, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication. The session began with the felicitation of the speaker by Ms. Roma, Head, Department of Mass Communication, with a plant sapling as a mark of respect and appreciation.
During the lecture, Dr. Devina Krishna spoke about the meaning and importance of research, research initiatives, research and development policies like Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), and the role of NEP 2020 in promoting research. She also discussed the changing nature of research in the present digital age and the need to connect human values with digital tools.
The core topic discussed by her was “How to Research”, where she explained the different stages of a research process. She discussed how to identify a research gap, frame research questions, conduct a literature review, collect and analyse data, and present research findings. She also highlighted the importance of research design, research ethics, citation styles, avoiding plagiarism, and responsible use of digital tools in research.
The session was attended by the students of Semester V and PG Diploma in Mass Communication. It provided the students with useful insights into planning and conducting research and encouraged them to look at research from both human and digital perspectives.
The session was moderated by Aditi Raj and Ridhi Kaushik, while the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Adrika Adesh, Semester V student of the Department of Mass Communication.
