On the occasion of World Ozone Day, the ECO Task Force (ETF) in collaboration with the Department of Zoology, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, organised an Oath-Taking Ceremony for newly inducted members of the ECO Task Force on 16.09.2026. The programme aimed to sensitise students towards environmental protection and inspire them to become responsible stewards of Mother Earth.
A total of 175 students from different departments of the College joined the ECO Task Force and took the oath to contribute towards the protection and conservation of the environment.
The oath was administered by Sister M. Tanisha A.C., Principal, Patna Women’s College. While encouraging the newly inducted members, she reminded them of their responsibility towards protecting Mother Earth and urged them to translate their commitment into meaningful environmental action. She encouraged the students to lead by example and inspire others to adopt environmentally responsible practices.
Dr. Sumeet Ranjan, Head, Department of Zoology and Vice President, ECO Task Force, welcomed the newly inducted members. In his address, he highlighted the importance of the ozone layer, its role in protecting life on Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation, and the need for its continued protection. He emphasised that young students can play a significant role in environmental conservation and can emerge as role models for sustainable and responsible environmental practices.
The ceremony also focused on strengthening the sense of belonging and responsibility among the new members. ECO Task Force sashes were distributed to the newly inducted students, symbolising their commitment towards environmental protection.
The programme concluded with the ECO Task Force Anthem, which added a sense of unity and purpose to the occasion. The anthem was sung with the intention of sparking the light of environmental responsibility within each new member and motivating them to carry forward the spirit of the ECO Task Force.
All the faculty members of the Department of Zoology were present during the ceremony and extended their support to the newly inducted members.
The entire programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Sumeet Ranjan, Head, Department of Zoology and Vice President, ECO Task Force, with the objective of nurturing environmental consciousness and encouraging students to actively participate in the protection of the planet.
