The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Patna Women’s College participated in the Intensified IEC Campaign on HIV/AIDS Awareness, organised by the Bihar State AIDS Control Society (BSACS) on 9th October 2026 at Eco Park, Patna.
The programme aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, dispel common misconceptions, promote preventive measures, and eliminate stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.

The event was attended by Shri Sumit Kumar, IAS, Project Director, BSACS; Shri Alok Kumar Singh, Assistant Director (Youth), BSACS; Dr. S. S. Reddy, Health Specialist, UNICEF, and other dignitaries.

A major highlight of the campaign was a bike rally involving students from various colleges, which was flagged off to spread the message of HIV/AIDS awareness among the public. Through banners, flags, and placards, the participants conveyed important messages about prevention, awareness, and the need to build a society free from stigma and discrimination.
The NSS volunteers of Patna Women’s College participated in the awareness initiative through a Nukkad Natak (street play).
The performance used an engaging and interactive approach to communicate essential information about HIV/AIDS to the public. It highlighted the actual modes of HIV transmission and dispelled common myths, particularly the misconception that HIV spreads through casual contact, sharing food, or shaking hands. In recognition of their efforts, the participating NSS volunteers were felicitated with medals and certificates by the distinguished guests during the programme.
The NSS Unit of Patna Women’s College reaffirmed its commitment to spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS and contributing to the vision of a healthy, informed, and inclusive India.
