The Department of Political Science organised an enriching and thought-provoking Debate Competition on the topic “Emergency: Death of Democracy or Administrative Efficiency?” The event took place on 12.07.2025 commencing at 2:00 PM in Room no. 402 with a total participation of 157 students from both UG & PG sections of the Department. The Debate organised on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Emergency in India (1975-2025), brought forward diverse perspectives as students passionately engaged with the topic, deducing from historical instances, legal precedents, and democratic principles.
The session was judged by Ms. Adweetiya Sinha and Dr. Prachi Raj. Winners were declared on the basis of the Content, Clarity, delivery, rebuttal, and the overall engagement by them. Adik Singh Raj BA Sem V was declared winner of English and Pallavi for Hindi.
Overall, the session was a great success and served as an excellent platform for students to explore contemporary and historical political issues, strengthen their debating skills, and foster a culture of open discussion within the Department.
