On 8th August 2025, the Department of Sociology, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, organised an engaging essay writing competition for the fifth-semester students on the topic “Preservation of Indigenous Culture – Opportunities and Challenges.” The event was held to mark the occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People, aiming to inspire young minds to reflect on the importance of safeguarding indigenous heritage.
The participants presented thought-provoking essays that delivered a powerful message on the urgent need to protect indigenous cultures and traditions, while also highlighting their invaluable contribution to the society. The competition served as a platform for students to express their awareness, creativity, and critical thinking on a subject of global significance.
The programme was conducted under the able supervision of Dr. Tapashi Bhattacharjee, Head, Department of Sociology, with the active presence and support of all faculty members of the department. Their guidance and support added to the success of the event, making it a memorable and enriching experience for the students.
