Time: 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM

The Department of Political Science organized a Speech and Poetry competition to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti. The Speech Competition on “Gandhi’s vision of rural self-reliance in India” encouraged participants to explore Gandhi’s emphasis on village development, sustainable livelihoods, and the importance of empowering rural communities. The judges for the Speech Competition were Dr. Sahar Rahman from the Department of English and Dr. Dhananjay from the Department of Hindi. The participants highlighted how Gandhi’s ideas on Swadeshi, Khadi, and decentralized planning continue to guide India’s developmental discourse even today.

To further enrich the celebration, a poetry competition titled “If Gandhi Walked Among Us Today” was held, where students, through their verses, reflected on issues of peace, equality, and justice; drawing parallels between Gandhi’s principles and present-day challenges. The judges for the competition were Dr. Anupriya Sinha from the Department of Psychology and Dr. Prachi Raj from the Department of Political Science. The event successfully conveyed the timeless relevance of Gandhi’s thoughts for today’s youth.
