Guest lecture on Ecocriticism

On 29 August 2025, Department of English in collaboration with Lit Wit Literary Society hosted a guest lecture for MA 3rd sem students by Dr. Prabhat Jha. He spoke on Greg Garrard’s Ecocriticism: The New Critical Idiom. Dr. Jha highlighted key positions within ecocriticism, such as pastoral, wilderness, apocalypse, dwelling, and animals, while situating them in relation to contemporary environmental and literary debates. His lecture clarified the theoretical underpinnings of Garrard’s work and also encouraged students to critically engage with the intersections of literature and ecology, making the session both intellectually stimulating and contextually relevant.
