Insightful session on Project Shield

On August 13, 2025, the Department of Mass Communication, in collaboration with India Today, successfully organized an insightful session on Project Shield, a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness about the growing threats of cyber frauds, scams, and other forms of digital deception. Held at the MVEIC Hall, the session featured expert discussions and practical guidance on identifying and preventing online scams, including scam calls and hacking techniques.

The session was skillfully moderated by Ms. Manya, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication, and commenced with a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, Mr. Bal Krishna, Senior Executive Editor, India Today, and Mr. Priyesh Sinha, Stand-up Comedian and Motivational Storyteller. As a gesture of respect and appreciation, Ms. Roma, Head of the Department of Mass Communication, presented plant saplings to the guests.

The session included an interactive quiz with students related to scams and cyber fraud, where participants showcased their knowledge of how tactics scammers use to manipulate individuals. After a keen competition, 5 winners were announced and recognized for their understanding of cybersecurity best practices. The quiz not only tested the students’ knowledge but also provided them with valuable insights into the latest cyber threats and how to protect themselves.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks given by Ms. Manya, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication, who expressed gratitude to the guests, participants, and organizers for making the event a success. Through Project Shield, the department aimed to educate students about the importance of cybersecurity and equip them with the knowledge to protect themselves from online threats.
