To celebrate and honour the Queer Community, a vibrant Pride Parade was organised in Patna on 14th July, 2025. It began from the historic Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan culminating at the iconic Dinkar Golambar. The students from Department of Political Science, History, and Sociology actively participated in the parade. The event brought together students, activists, and members of the queer community to celebrate diversity and advocate for equal rights. Reshma Prasad, the founder of Dostana Safar took the lead and explained that the Pride Parade is not just a march but a celebration of identity, dignity and visibility for the LGB TQIA+ community. She emphasized that such events create awareness, reduce stigma and promote acceptance in society.
The students’ active participation reflected the growing engagement of youth with issues of gender equality and social justice. They held banners showcasing their support towards the community. For students, the parade served as a real-life learning experience, reinforcing classroom concepts related to rights, inclusion and democratic participation. Mr. Adweetiya Sinha and Ms. Simran Sinha, Assistant Professors of Department of Political Science along with teachers from other Departments accompanied the students.
