Student Field Visit under Multidisciplinary Course (MDC)

As part of their academic curriculum, B.Sc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics students enrolled in the Multidisciplinary Course (MDC) and B.A. Home Science students undertook an educational visit to a nearby Anganwadi Centre, Indira Bhawan, West Boring Canal Road, Patna on 12th March 2026.

During the visit, students observed the infrastructure of the centre, including cleanliness, space, and availability of basic facilities. They also examined the services provided to beneficiaries such as pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children aged 3–6 years. These services included supplementary nutrition, growth monitoring, preschool education, and health and nutrition awareness activities. The presence of children in the age group of 3–6 years allowed students to observe early childhood care and learning activities in practice. Students observed the roles of the Anganwadi Worker in managing operations, records, and service delivery, along with the Anganwadi Helper’s support in food preparation, hygiene, and daily tasks.

The visit was organised by Dr. Shubham Sinha, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics along with Ms. Vishnu Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science. Overall, the visit was informative and enhanced the understanding of Anganwadi functioning and its role in promoting child health and nutrition at the grassroots level.
