The topic of deliberation on the second day of the Faculty Development Programme was “Effective Use of AI in Academic Research and Scholarly Writing”and “Research and Publication in High-Indexed Journals.”The esteemed resource persons for the day were Dr. Sevuga Pandian Asirvatham, Dean, School of Computational and Physical Sciences, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, and Mr. Jaheer Mukhthar K.P., Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru.
Dr. Sevuga Pandian Asirvatham discussed the effective use of AI tools in academic research and writing. He explained how AI can enhance efficiency by supporting literature reviews, identifying key themes, and saving time in the research process. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining ethical standards in research and highlighted that AI should be viewed as an assistant rather than a replacement for human expertise and critical thinking.
Mr. Jaheer Mukhthar K.P. spoke about the evolving role of teachers in higher education and the significance of research and publication. He emphasized that research attains greater value when it is published in reputed indexed journals, as it provides academic recognition, contributes to knowledge creation, and enhances the quality of teaching and learning.
