On July 1st 2026, the Department of Statistics, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, successfully organized a webinar on “Empowering Society Through Statistics: Advancing Informed Decisions, Predictive Insights and Sustainable Progress” on the occasion of National Statistics Day 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of Prof. P. C. Mahalanobis.
The webinar was organized under the visionary guidance and inspiring leadership of the Principal, Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C., Patna Women’s College. The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Moon, Head, Department of Statistics, followed by the introduction of the resource persons by Dr. Nishtha Bhardwaj, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous). The technical sessions were delivered by Prof. Amarendra Mishra, Former Head, Department of Statistics, Hony Director, Population Research Centre, Former Dean Faculty of Science, Patna University, Dr. Manoj Kumar Chaudhary, Professor, Department of Statistics, Banaras Hindu University and Dr. Arun Kaushik, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, Banaras Hindu University.Through their insightful sessions, they highlighted the transformative role of statistics in evidence-based decision-making, sampling methodologies, predictive analytics, public policy, and sustainable development. They also highlighted on the power of statistics, sampling techniques, and the role of statistics in informed public decision-making.
The webinar witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, researchers, and students, fostering meaningful discussions on the importance of statistics in research, governance, and sustainable development. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Monika Rashmi, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, Principal, participants, and the organizing team for making the event a grand success.
