The Department of Psychology, Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, Patna University organized a workshop on the topic “Music and Dance Therapy” in collaboration with Natraj Nritya Club on 07th of October 2024 on the occasion of World Mental Health Week 2024. The resource person was Ms. Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator, Performing Arts, Patna Women’s College. Dr. Nupur Sinha, Head, Department of Psychology, welcomed the resource person. Ms. Mukta Mrinalini, Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology moderated the session and also emphasized on the importance of this kind of therapy. Madam started the session with an introduction to the concept of ‘Music and Dance Therapy’ and explained the effectiveness of creativity and arts on mental health. She explained mind body connectedness and uses of movement on emotions. She has conducted different activities to help them identify their emotions and learn how to express them. During the workshop, Madam gave certain tasks to the participants, like Ice-breaking task, mind-body coordination, finding and acting of emotions and dance movements. She also discussed the management of stress by using these techniques. At the end of the session feedback from each participant were taken and they felt relief from stress and so much relaxed.
