Two-Day Orientation Program

DISHA – Competitive Examination and Guidance Cell, Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), organised a Two-Day Orientation Program on “Competitive Exams in the Field of Life Sciences,” which was attended by the students of the Departments of Biotechnology, Botany, Microbiology, and Zoology. The sessions were conducted on 12th and 13th September 2025.

On Day 1, students of PG Semester III and UG Semester V participated. The program was moderated by Ms. Amrita Prakash, Coordinator, DISHA. The inaugural session was led by Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, who introduced various national-level competitive examinations at the postgraduate level, with a special focus on the pattern and strategies for CSIR-NET Life Sciences. This was followed by Dr. Niti Yashvardhini, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, who highlighted important undergraduate-level exams including GATE, CUET, and IIT-JAM. The day concluded with a session by Dr. Swetnisha, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, who explained the syllabi of different competitive examinations and the common portions shared across them.

On Day 2, students of PG Semester I and UG Semesters I & III joined the orientation. The program on this day was moderated by Dr. Nupur Sinha, Head, Department of Psychology. The sessions focused on continuing the discussion about examination patterns, syllabus overlaps, and strategies to prepare effectively for higher education opportunities in Life Sciences.

Across both days, more than 150 students participated each day, showing enthusiastic involvement. The program was highly interactive and informative, providing clarity on career paths through competitive examinations.

The two-day orientation concluded successfully, leaving the students motivated and well-guided towards their academic and research goals.
