Industrial Visit to Parmann Nutritionals Pvt. Ltd., Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) Lalganj, Vaishali, Bihar

The Department of Commerce at Patna Women’s College organised an industrial visit on 12th March 2026, for the students of Semester VI of B. Com (Hons.) Accounting and Finance. As part of the academic engagement for experiential learning, the students visited Parmann Nutritionals Pvt. Ltd., a prominent contract manufacturer for Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), Lalganj, Vaishali, Bihar.

The visit was envisaged as a significant initiative to foster practical insights into modern industrial practices.

During the visit, students were briefed about the operational intricacies of large-scale food processing and manufacturing systems. A key highlight was the detailed demonstration of the manufacturing process of Kissan Jam and Kissan Tomato Ketchup. The ketchup making process commence with the systematic washing and sorting of fresh tomatoes, followed by crushing to extract pulp, which was further processed into tomato paste at an approximate capacity of 20 tons per hour. The refined paste was then transformed into tomato ketchup through advanced automated production lines, operating at nearly 6 tons per hour.

The students gained a comprehensive understanding of the entire production cycle, encompassing raw material handling, processing, stringent quality control, and automated packaging. The integration of sophisticated technology and machinery in ensuring efficiency, hygiene, and product consistency was particularly emphasised. Additionally, insights were shared regarding the manufacturing processes of other widely used consumer products such as Lux soap, Lifebuoy soap, and shampoos, reinforcing the scale and diversity of operations associated with the parent organisation.

The company is progressing towards an ambitious production target of approximately 115 kilotons in the current year, reflecting its expanding operational capacity.    Interactions with the Director, Managers, and other officials were highly enriching, as they elucidated various dimensions of industrial functioning, including production procedures, safety management, financing, taxation, costing techniques, logistics, supply chain management, material testing, standardisation, and research & development practices.

Overall, the visit was successful and immensely rewarding, offering students valuable exposure to real-world industrial ecosystems, contributing to their professional preparedness and holistic development.
