To mark the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, the SRISHTI Environment Club and ECO Task Force of Patna Women’s College, Autonomous, in collaboration with Tarumitra, Patna, organized a Nature Walk at Tarumitra Ashram on June 5th 2026. The initiative aimed to foster environmental awareness, encourage ecological sensitivity, and deepen students’ understanding of biodiversity and sustainable living.
The programme was organized in alignment with the spirit of World Environment Day, which calls upon individuals and communities to reconnect with nature and take collective responsibility for protecting the environment. Amidst the serene greenery of Tarumitra Ashram, students experienced firsthand the importance of preserving natural ecosystems and promoting environmental stewardship.
The participants were warmly welcomed and addressed by Fr. Tony Pendanath, S.J., Director, Tarumitra, who interacted with the students and introduced them to a variety of herbal and medicinal plants.
Ms. Devo Priyadutta, Coordinator, Tarumitra guided the students to explore the rich flora of the Ashram and visited the renowned “Jal Mandir – The Nature’s Temple,” a unique ecological space that symbolizes harmony between humanity and nature.
A total of 27 students from SRISHTI Environment Club and ECO Task Force actively participated in the Nature Walk. The walk provided an enriching opportunity for students to observe diverse plant species, understand ecological relationships, and appreciate the beauty and wisdom embedded in natural landscapes.
The event was well coordinated by Ms. Meenakshi Mishra, Coordinator, SRISHTI Environment Club and Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, and Dr. Sumeet Ranjan, Head, Department of Zoology and Secretary, ECO Task Force.
The Nature Walk served as a meaningful reminder that environmental conservation begins with awareness, appreciation, and responsible action. The event inspired students to become active custodians of nature and reinforced Patna Women’s College’s commitment to promoting environmental education and sustainable practices. Sister Sanjana A.C., Sister Luveena A.C., Sister Monica Purty A.C and other faculty members accompanied the students during the visit.
